What I Hand to AI

I stopped asking which tasks AI can do, and started asking which mistakes I can afford.

I hand it the reversible, checkable, cheap-if-wrong work without a second thought: the first drafts, the scaffolding, the grunt work, getting oriented fast in something I don't know yet. If it botches those, I've lost ten minutes. Great trade.

What I keep is everything where being wrong is expensive and hard to catch. The final call. Verifying the numbers against ground truth. Judging whether its own output is actually right. Ambiguous decisions, where instead of letting it assume, I make it ask.

And the one people underestimate: anything confidential. I don't hand a model sensitive information and trust it to put it exactly where I said. A tool that sometimes hallucinates where things belong is not one you hand your secrets to.

I hand AI the work. I keep the judgment, and the things that can't be undone.
